Why We Pace This Route This Way

Festival week is when Paro is at its fullest, which makes the room and the timing matter more than usual. We book the lodge a year ahead, send the guide into the courtyard early to hold a good line of sight, and bring you back to the lodge for lunch rather than leaving you standing in the crowd for eight hours. Two days in Punakha at the end give the week a quiet finish.
