Why We Pace This Route This Way

Guests who only see Paro and Thimphu miss the wooden-shingled villages and buckwheat valleys of central Bhutan where our oldest stories live. We break the eastbound highway cleanly through Punakha, Trongsa, and Phobjikha so no single driving day wears you out. Three full nights in Bumthang give you time to walk the riverside meadow path from Jambay Lhakhang to Tamzhing and visit a Chumey weaving household without watching the clock.
