Why We Pace This Route This Way

Elders usually want three things from Bhutan: Kyichu Lhakhang, a blessing from a monk, and the climb to Taktsang done their own way. This itinerary places those visits on separate mornings so nobody is tired for the important one, keeps hotels within walking distance of the temples, and includes a wheelchair accessible vehicle on request. The Punakha stop breaks the driving and gives the family a warm afternoon.
