Why We Pace This Route This Way

Central Bhutan is a full day further east than most Indian itineraries go, which is exactly why the valleys are quiet. We break the drive at Trongsa so nobody sits in a vehicle for seven hours, keep two nights in Jakar for the temple walk and the Tang valley, and return through Phobjikha when the cranes are in. The vehicle is a private Innova or similar with a driver who has run this road for years.
